done.

I finally got our Christmas shopping done. Travis copped out and ordered all my gifts online while I was running around with Ethan thinking I was going to go crazy. All we had left to do was shop for Ethan, which we like to do together. But we didn't really know what to do with Ethan while we shopped...so we just brought him along. Turns out, although this might not be the best parenting tactic (let your child pick out toys and then take them all away) it was amazing. Two year olds are kinda hard to shop for. It seems like they're in between infant toys and older kid toys (at least in our first time parent book...) We would have spent hours wandering up and down the aisles wondering which toys were age appropriate and which he would actually like. Instead we spent 15 minutes in this one aisle and came away with more than we needed. Too bad next year he'll probably be old enough to realize what we're doing.

I think you have hit on a new way to shop for gifts... just put the person you are buying for in a cart and hit the store! That would avoid a lot of returns.

We totally did and still do that. Next year he will be older and probably more able to tell you what he wants. If not just take him a few months off, let him pick out what he wants, don't even mention Christmas. When Christmas comes he will have forgotten all about them. Have a Merry Christmas!
