There are many reasons why I love music. One reason is that no matter what I am going through in life I can always find a song that speaks to my heart. The thing that gets me is that there is always a song that fits. How can this be? I get it that I am not the first person to face life's experiences but I don't know that anyone out there feels exactly the same way I do. It always amazes me that someone has written songs with words and music that bring to life the feelings I try and express so pathetically. Here is another thing I love about music: the musician may have meant something totally different when they wrote the lyrics but I am free to interpret them however I choose. This is probably why I feel like I can always find songs that reflect my life--because I create the meaning. So, of course, I have a song that reflects the way I feel about Travis being away. The song is nothing new and I'm sure many people that have gone through a separation from a person they love will feel a connection with the lyrics, but again, that's why music is so great. Here's the song:Styx "Babe"
Babe, I'm leaving, I must be on my way
The time is drawing near
My train is going, I see it in your eyes
The love, the need, your tears
But I'll be lonely without you
And I'll need your love to see me through
So Please believe me, my heart is in your hands
And I'll be missing you.
Cause You know it's you Babe
Whenever I get weary and I've had enough
Feel like giving up
You know it's you Babe
Giving me the courage and the strength I need
Please believe that it's true
Babe, I love you.
You know it's you Babe
Whenever I get weary and I've had enough
Feel like giving up
You know it's you Babe
Giving me the courage and the strength I need
Please believe that it's true
Babe, I love you.
Babe, I'm leaving, I'll say it once again
Somehow try to smile
I know the feeling we're trying to forget
If only for a while
Cause I'll be lonely without you
And I'll need your love to see me through
But Please believe me, my heart is in your hands
Cause I'll be missing you
Babe, I love you.
Babe, I love you.
The time is drawing near
My train is going, I see it in your eyes
The love, the need, your tears
But I'll be lonely without you
And I'll need your love to see me through
So Please believe me, my heart is in your hands
And I'll be missing you.
Cause You know it's you Babe
Whenever I get weary and I've had enough
Feel like giving up
You know it's you Babe
Giving me the courage and the strength I need
Please believe that it's true
Babe, I love you.
You know it's you Babe
Whenever I get weary and I've had enough
Feel like giving up
You know it's you Babe
Giving me the courage and the strength I need
Please believe that it's true
Babe, I love you.
Babe, I'm leaving, I'll say it once again
Somehow try to smile
I know the feeling we're trying to forget
If only for a while
Cause I'll be lonely without you
And I'll need your love to see me through
But Please believe me, my heart is in your hands
Cause I'll be missing you
Babe, I love you.
Babe, I love you.

I love your new picture header showing your happiness on your wedding day!! Your insights into music are delightful and I especially liked your idea of being free to interpret the meaning of lyrics yourself. Are you thinking of any songs that will describe your joy when Travis returns?
Benjy loves your choice of song. He is very partial to the 80's music. He says, "It's actually older than the 80's....I think?" We thought you gave a great testimony today... it touch both of us and we continue to be amazed at your strength.
I'm glad you young 'uns can appreciate awesome music such as Styx! ;-) Great post!
I lOVE the new header on your blog. That is such a cute picture of you and your sweetie. I'm so excited for you that he's coming home so SOON! Ryan said something today about wanting to send a letter out to him but I said I was pretty sure it was too late, that he can no longer receive letters because he'll be home too soon. Yay!
Your so right about music I tend to do that with songs too.Music is a great blessing.
